  Ever wonder why so many inactive ones never actually become ex-jws

  i have been considering this often lately, as i know many who have for all intents and purposes, left the organization, yet they still believe it is the truth.

  i know when i left, it wasn't long before i had to really investigate for myself, (after a matter of about three months of just taking a "breather"), weather or not what jws taught was actually the "truth".

  i think, this was because i realized that something other than just my own weakness had to be what made me "give up".

  I like to call this the "Anchor" syndrome. Those inactive who don't investigate the Org to find out the truth about it are just keeping the whole idea as thier ace in the hole. It is the hope that is an "anchor" for the soul. Even though they are taking time off for "bad behaviour", they still hold to the idea that all will be forgiven when they decide to return. If there is some sort of truth out there, there is still a reason for living. When you remove any possibility of hope, there is no point for even a life of dissapation. Some have such low self esteem that they cannot act on the impossible expectations of the truth. Once they find they can live life without it they become comfortable. Then its always, "maybe one day" blah blah. They attend the memorial to remind themselves of the obligation and the possibility of redemption in the future, but have no interest in doing anything till life craps on them and they see the benefit of signing on again.

  Apparently some are more impressionable than others. Sorry about your dream of sitting in the KH with a bubble. Yuck.

  I don't have any WT dreams. I do have some wild dreams but none involving the KH or the other witnesses. If I have, they have been totally validating my escape.... That's always a plus.

  If we accept the premise, the angels produced hybrid offspring that were a new form of life, or an altered one, sort of anamolys or freaks.

  Jehovah transferred the life of an existing person into human DNA and placed it inside a surrogate mother as it were. There was no intercourse ergo, no fornication.

  This is just silly.

  You can obviously see the difference between the two events in these paintings done at the time of the events.

  i had a relapse from the meds in my treatment and got quite ill and spent a couple of days in the hospital i seem to be doing ok now and missed a dinner date with one of you in little elm.

  Matt,

  This is something that puzzles me. Though your friend is not open minded about your questions, I wonder why so many ask questions that they either have the answer too already, or are not really interested in the answer to. Instead, it is the asking of the question that is the motive. I know he gave you the usual defense, but to some degree isn't it true that you will not be persuaded otherwise?

  Now, don't misunderstand me. I don't disagree with your conclusions, nor do I defend his response as healthy. I see this so many times and did it myself when a witnoid. They ask questions all the time of people in the territory knowing full well the answer they are seeking and will accept no other. They have been trained to sound genuinely interested and act sincere, but its all part of the process of getting their point across. I think anyone who is convinced does that.

  I don't mean to make you upset or discredit your communication with this fellow. I hope you can talk face to face with him. This writing of facts only reads according to the inflection he gives it, which may not be the way you mean it at all.

  Disfellowshipping for Gluttony?

  is that possible?..have there been any cases like this?.

  my family have been on my case about me hanging around with people (non-jw family) that like to drink alot.

  they went as far as to call me "a drunk"...now i do admit that i have been gotten drunk before on occasion, but i am not a drunk or an alcoholic.. so, i told my mother (obese) that if i were "a drunk" for getting drunk from time to time (not every day), then can she be considered "a glutton", for eating to much, obese, having health problems, all because of the way she eats?

  i was an unbaptized publisher many years ago and attended meetings fairly regularly.

  i beleived in jehovah and still do now.

  This is what always amazed me, people study, become unbaptized publishers and then get baptized - all without knowing what the hell they're doing. They have no clue how things work or the ramifications of thier decision. The Witnoids go over 100 plus questions before baptism and people still don't know what they're getting in to. It just blows my mind that people get sucked into this movement without any clue what's going on. Good for you that you are asking questions.

  Yeah, pray and stay away from the Borg.

  what's the latest film that you watched on dvd or cinema and would you recommend it or was it bad boring film?

  i haven't watched any films for months now but i will when i restart my satellite tv subscription next month.

  I saw the Illusionist with Edward Norton, Jessica Beihl and Paul Giamatti. It has a nice feel to it and I like the twisting storyline. Cant say much or I'll spoil it for you. I think people will like it. Its filmed in a sort of psuedo sepiatone with the edges of the film looking a bit like jagged edges. It was supposed to look like an old movie projected with lanterns I guess. It works well enough. The movie is a mystery of sorts.
